Look at all the aspects when considering your insurance policy, not just the price.

Consider how the product will work, what coverage is offered, what network is used,
what the copays are (if any), if there is prescription coverage, and also the premium.

All of the above work together for your overall policy experience. You can get a
cheap price, but if you doctor isn't in the network you may pay more to go out
of network than you would've had you purchased a policy that your doctor
participated in.

Also in most cases there is no discount for spouses and/or dependents to be
covered on the same plan. There is the convenience of one bill or debit to
your bank account if you are all covered together, but sometimes you may
be better off to have two + different type of plans. Sometimes there may
be a household discount on certain plans with certain companies.

Contact your local agency today for a full description of all that's available to
you!

Don't just be driven by price

Don't let price be the only consideration when making your insurance choices.

You should also think about the product benefits. You want to make a choice that's right for you.

For instance, you can pay a high dollar premium for a health insurance plan (individual or group) that has a doctor copay but if you only go to the doctor for a check up you may fare better getting a plan without a doctor copay and/or an HSA high deductible health plan.

When thinking about Medicare products, you'll want to think about whether or not you want the freedom to go to any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare or if you'd prefer using a network or PFFS network (in Caldwell County, NC) with a Medicare Advantage plan.

You may need something temporary for individual health coverage if you're changing jobs or moving to a new location or just out of school. In that case, Short Term Health may be your answer.

A professional insurance agent offering such products can advise you as to your best options.

Are you wearing green today?

Have a safe and fun St. Patrick's Day today!
http://www.history.com/topics/st-patricks-day

Individual Health for Small Groups and Dependents

Individual health plans can be more affordable for small businesses than having a group plan. It depends on the type of coverage selected (benefits such as deductible, etc.). In some cases, a business check can be used to pay for the premium even if it's a group plan.

Dependent coverage is often much cheaper on an individual health plan or even HSA health plan depending on the health conditions (if any). Dependent coverage tends to run high on small group plans.

There are a lot of affordable ways to keep your coverage costs manageable. We’re gearing up to wear denim on October 8, 2010,
in exchange for a $5 donation to the Women’s Cancer Programs of EIF to
support the fight against breast cancer. We invite you to join our team
or make a donation.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
That’s a startling statistic. But since 1996, Lee National Denim Day® has
raised nearly $80 million for the fight against breast cancer ... $5 at a time.

On Denim Day®, Oct. 8, our team has pledged to wear jeans and each
donate at least $5 to the Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment
Industry Foundation. We hope you will join us.

http://www.denimday.com/team_page.aspx?tid=222180

Having an agent won't cost you more premium

Think you don't need an insurance agent to navigate the murky insurance waters?

Think again.

You don't pay more to go through an agent for life and health products. But you get the expertise of a professional agent close to home who has your best interest at heart.

You can also avoid hanging on the phone at an 800# or searching online. You can call a local number or sit across the desk from a real person for assistance with your coverage.

You may think you're getting a bargain to go direct but you'll be missing out on personal service when (not if) you need it. Plus the cost is the same!

The factors now that determine healthcare costs are age, where you live, type of coverage you select, health conditions if any, smoking if any, etc. The final premium is not determined by the agent or whether or not your purchased your policy direct.

You don't save anything to go with an agent from the other side of the state either!

We provide complimentary service with the policies we offer. Give us a try today.

Our Customer Service Rep gets married!

Our Customer Service Representative, Laurissa, has just gotten married.

With insurance you can shop around, but because it is not a tangible item like say a grill or a lawn mower, etc., you have to keep in mind that you are buying a coverage plus service. You want to make sure you go with an insurance company (that's the company that actually writes the policy) that will be around when you need or use the coverage and that will cover your claims or benefits whatever they may be. Bottom dollar pricing may not provide the coverage you need when you actually have to or end up using it.

A lot of folks have the misconception that an insurance agency sets premiums. The premiums are set by the insurance companies. Whether you buy at a local agency or direct from the company online or over the phone the premiums are the same. Some products such as individual health may base their final rates on underwriting. With products like medicare supplements the premiums are based on age and plan selected and/or gender or tobacco use depending on the insurance company.

Once you have the coverage, the rates generally stay the same for certain length of time depending on the effective date.

So when you are shopping around check with your local insurance agency. Whether you check with us at Bush and Associates or another local agency be sure to get the full facts and information you should have to go with a coverage and a company that will be there when/if you need them and that works with the doctors/hospitals you want to see (if it's a health insurance product). Plus when you go with a local agency like us should you need assistance we are ready to help you.

You can return a grill or lawn mower or even exchange it, but when you have a need to use your insurance product and you don't have adequate coverage or the coverage you thought you had, you may not be able to make a change.
Medicare or going on it,
did you know it may not always pay all of your health care costs due to
coverage gaps. Medicare Supplement plans also known as Medicare
Supplemental insurance are something you may want to consider purchasing
to fill in those gaps. Medigap plans help cover deductibles,
coinsurance, and for some care that Medicare does not cover.

The Federal Government has announced changes to
the standard Medicare Supplement plans that will take place on June 1,
2010.

New plans are M and N. Plans E, H, I and J will no longer
be offered. Plan G will increase the benefit for Part B Excess Charges
to 100%. Hospice Part A coinsurance will be a core benefit in all
plans.

These changes will not affect the Medigap plan
you already have or purchase before June 1, 2010. You can keep the plan
you already have as long as you pay the premiums. Your benefits will
remain the same. You don't need to buy a new plan unless you want to
make a change.

If you are new to Medicare and have Part A and
Part B you can choose one of the new policies. The best time to sign up
is during open enrollment for Medigap plans which is 6 months beginning
when your Part B becomes effective.
